Keep Customer Service Consistent over the Summer

Summertime can be busy time for your business, but it’s no time to let customer service take a back seat. Beat the summer business blues and use these tips to keep customer service consistent over the summer.

Plan ahead for staff vacations

Your customers shouldn’t have to suffer because your staff is taking a vacation. Longer wait times due to staffing shortages can be annoying at best and damaging to your business at worst, because your customers may take their business elsewhere if they don’t get the service they expect.

Bring in extra staff over the summer, if your budget allows for it, or consider using a customer service call centre to handle the extra strain on your staff. Vacations are important, but so is customer service, and a call centre can help you maintain a great balance between the two.

Keep your staff motivated to serve

Summertime is notorious for triggering a lapse in great customer service skills in otherwise amazing employees. There’s just something about being stuck at work when the sun is shining that makes people a little impatient. Encourage your staff to provide excellent customer service all summer long by using incentives and fun competitions to motivate them.

This can work wonders for your customers, too. Offer them fun incentives to do business with you over the summer, like discounts or prize drawings, and watch your customer engagement soar.

Don’t forget existing customers

If summer is your busy season for getting new customers, be sure you don’t overlook your old ones. Maintaining a consistent level of customer care from the beginning of the relationship to years down the road is the only way to build a strong business. Otherwise, you’ll spend all your time wooing new customers, only to lose the old ones through neglect.
