Keep Your Employees Happy and Watch Customer Service Soar

Nothing kills customer service faster than unhappy employees. Angry, stressed-out employees won’t interact with your customers the way that you need them to, but happy employees can have the opposite effect, causing your customer service to soar.

Happy employees work harder

Countless studies have shown that happy employees are more productive, but how do you keep your employees happy? Showing your appreciation for your employees, making sure they aren’t overworked and giving them the freedom to grow in their jobs are all proven ways to keep your employees happy and engaged with your customers.

Employee appreciation

If your employees don’t feel that their work is respected or appreciated, they won’t put in the effort. Conversely, if you praise work well done, give monetary raises when appropriate and generally make it clear that each employee is a valued part of the team, they will want to take responsibility for your business’ success.

Avoiding overworked employees

If your budget can’t accommodate enough employees to make each person’s workload ‘comfortable,’ you may need to look at other options. Overworked, stressed employees can’t give a proper level of attention to either their job or your customers, so consider hiring in extra temporary help or use the services of a call centre as needed, so your employees won’t experience burnout.

Let them grow

Giving your employees a little freedom to make their own decisions can be empowering for them. Giving them an opportunity to grow and gain importance within the company can be game-changing. If your staff feel like the only move they can make within their current role is a lateral one, they may look for work elsewhere, and take your customers with them.

Your employees are an important part of your business. Treat them well, and your business will boom, but keep them miserable, and your customers may just walk out the door, too.
