Get Ready for the Holiday Season

Entrepreneurs-business-support
It’s never to early to get your business ready for the holiday season. Whether your business involves retail or you’re a part of the service industry, preparation is the key to success.

Here are some tips to prepare your business for the holiday season so you can gift your customers with great service all season long.

Know your weaknesses

When it gets busy, where are you likely to struggle? Do you find that your telephones become backed up with waiting callers? Maybe you just don’t have enough staff to answer all the calls and do all the things. Plan ahead so you can avoid letting your weaknesses bring you and your customers down during the holidays.

You might consider hiring temporary staff to help, or employ the use of a call centre during those hectic, busy hours. You may also want to have your staff brush up on additional training or take a refresher course in customer service so they’ll be at their best when it gets super busy.

Keep things jolly

The holidays aren’t the time to make any big changes at work. In fact, due to the added stress of the holiday season, you might want to consider lightening the workload for your employees to avoid burnout. Encourage self-care and motivate your staff with fun competitions and small rewards. It will help keep them in the holiday spirit so they can provide excellent care to your customers.

Plan for the worst, but hope for the best

What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened during the holidays at your workplace? Did you underestimate the amount of work that needed to be done and leave your staff overworked? Did angry customers kill the holiday spirit for your business? Anticipate the things that could go wrong, then plan for them.

Don’t assume that everything will be terrible, but don’t approach the holiday season with rose-coloured glasses, either. It’s a fun time of year for many, but remember that some customers and employees may struggle with stress during this time, too. Be patient, be prepared, and you’ll be ready for a great holiday season for your business.
